Vericut Challenges Optimisation Myths With Performance Claims

Vericut has moved to address common concerns surrounding CNC machining optimisation, arguing that intelligent feedrate adjustment can improve performance without changing programmed toolpath geometry. In a LinkedIn post, the company separated what it described as myths from the practical role of optimisation alongside CAM software.

The company said optimisation can deliver measurable benefits even on advanced machining strategies, including trochoidal and high-efficiency toolpaths. Vericut reported that users regularly achieve cycle-time reductions of 10% to 40%, while also improving tool life. The post did not provide active printing hours or total operating-hour data.

According to Vericut, the process is not simply intended to make machines run faster. Instead, it adjusts feedrates to support safety, stability and energy efficiency. This can mean increasing feeds in some areas of a machining operation and reducing them in others, based on the conditions encountered during the programmed path.

The company also stressed that optimisation does not alter the geometry created in CAM. CAM remains responsible for generating the toolpath, while Vericut’s optimisation technology is positioned as a way to make that path more efficient through feedrate changes. Vericut said the approach can help prevent machine overloads, reduce tool breakage and improve operating reliability.

While optimisation is sometimes associated with aerospace manufacturing, Vericut said its applications extend across automotive, medical, energy, mould and die, and other industries. The company directed users seeking further information to its online frequently asked questions resource, presenting optimisation as a complementary technology for manufacturers looking to improve machining performance.
